REROOFING
3 LAYERS OF SHINGLES

We completed a private home reroofing project that presented a challenge requiring creative solutions. This home had not one but three layers of aging shingles that needed removal prior to installing the new roof. While adding layers over time can save homeowners money in the short-term, it cuts the roof’s life expectancy in half with each additional layer due to friction between shingles, deteriorating shingles and an uneven surface.

In this case, the homeowner had an extensively landscaped yard with many delicate plants surrounding the home. To avoid damaging the landscape, we constructed an elaborate scaffolding system to hold and organize all necessary roofing materials. This allowed our crew to operate efficiently without heavy foot traffic or falling debris impacting the plants.

The roof itself was steeply pitched, compounding the complexity of working efficiently. Our experienced team tore off the three deteriorating shingle layers, taking care to keep debris contained. We then installed high-quality shingles and took the time to ensure proper seals, linings and flashings throughout to insure longevity.

While the meticulous staging and step-by-step process required far more labor than a typical residential reroofing, the homeowner was thrilled with the final results. Just as importantly, the surrounding delicate plants were undisturbed throughout the process thanks to our approach.

At Legacy Roofing, we are willing to go the extra mile to satisfy customers rather than cutting corners to save time or money in the short term. We believe it is important to show respect for our clients and our community by protecting their personal property. We realize that your home is likely your largest investment, and our goal is to always treat it as if it were our own.

ROTTED MANUFACTURED
HOME ROOF

When we arrived to provide a bid on re-sheeting the roof of a manufactured home, we quickly realized the issues extended far beyond just the roofing. As the crew began removing shingles, it became clear that the wooden trusses supporting the entire roof structure were severely rotted and unsafe.

Our foreman immediately contacted Legacy’s owner, who came straight to the site to assess the situation. After discussing options with the homeowner, we determined that the best course of action was to completely rebuild the roof from the top of the walls up. This included installing new trusses, and roof sheeting.

The extent of rot required us to take extra safety precautions during the rebuild. The crew laid down 2×6 boards and plywood to create a stable walking surface along the compromised structure. We also utilized fall protection equipment to mitigate the risk of falling through the ceiling.

In the end, we were able to successfully replace the decayed roof components and provide the homeowner with a solid, secure roof system. The project highlighted the importance of routine maintenance and inspection of aging roofs in order to avoid water damage and deterioration. We advised the client on best practices for debris removal and upkeep moving forward to maximize the lifespan of the new roof.

Our crew’s adaptability and technical knowledge is shown by their diagnosing the underlying issues and creating a safe plan to execute the challenging rebuild. This project showcases our capability to thoroughly assess problems and deliver effective solutions for customers, even when faced with unexpected site conditions.
